Applications

The Department of Financial and Management Engineering of the University of the Aegean is responsible for the organisation and operation of the Postgraduate Studies Programme (MSc) entitled "Financial and Management for Engineers". This is carried out in accordance with the provisions of Law 4957/2022 (A' 141). This programme is one of the first postgraduate programmes offered by the University of the Aegean, with a 20-year history of successful delivery.

The MSc. The O.D.I.M. programme leads to a Diploma of Postgraduate Studies (M.Sc.) in Economics and Management for Engineers. It offers three distinct specialisations:

The MSc programme is designed to facilitate the production and transfer of knowledge, methodologies and tools that can be applied at the interfaces of technology, economy and management. The MSc is designed to provide its graduates with a competitive advantage by developing their ability to analyse complex problems requiring interdisciplinary knowledge from a range of fields, including technology, information technology, finance, management and economics. Graduates of the MSc gain expertise in optimising production and service systems, effectively managing time, costs and resources, driving innovation and developing new business activities, enhancing performance and reorganising public administration.

The MSc FME will be offered with fully distance learning processes in the 2024-2025 academic year, utilising a modern education platform (real-time distance lectures).

It is a requirement that all students attend the courses and participate in all educational activities, including assignments, exercises, seminars, and so on.

The MSc programme leading to the award of the Diploma of Postgraduate Studies is defined as two academic semesters, including the summer period (annual intensive), during which the thesis is written.

The total number of credits (ECTS) required for the MSc is 75.

Each course comprises 11 lectures, each lasting three hours, including the final examination.

Individuals with a first-cycle degree from A.E.I. (Universities and T.E.I.) from domestic or comparable institutions abroad are eligible for admission to the MSc programme.

Additionally, graduates from the Higher Military Educational Institutions (A.S.E.I.) are eligible for admission (Articles 1 and 88 of Law 3883/2010 - Government Gazette 167/A/24.09.2010), as are those from the School of Officers of the Hellenic Police (paragraph 5 article 38 of Law 4249/2014 - Government Gazette 73/A/24.03.2014), and the School of Firefighters of the Fire Academy (paragraph 14 article 69 of Law 4249/2014 - Government Gazette 73/A/24.03. In addition, graduates of the School of Cadet Midshipmen of the Coast Guard – Greek Coast Guard (Article 1 of Decree 75/2018 – Government Gazette 145/A/07.08.2018) and Merchant Navy Academies (AEN – admitted to the AEN from the academic year 2005-06 who hold a merchant navy diploma first class) are also eligible, in accordance with current legislation.

Tuition fees for the MSc programme are set at €3,800, payable in three instalments. The first is €500, due upon registration, the second €1,100, due on a predetermined date, and the third €1,100, due on a subsequent date, both to be announced in advance.

Applications must be submitted by Sunday 8 September 2024.

The selection process comprises two stages: a) evaluation of the application file and b) personal interview. Candidates who meet the formal requirements will be invited to an interview (either at the Department's headquarters or remotely) at a time to be announced in advance and posted on the Department's website.

The selection of postgraduate students will be based on the following main criteria:

The degree/diploma category is worth up to 30 points. The highest priority is given to five-year engineering students, followed by graduates of universities of applied sciences and economics, then graduates of other universities relevant to the MSc – O.D.I.M., and then graduates of relevant universities of applied sciences.

The following criteria will be used to assess candidates:

  • Degree/diploma: The grade achieved in relevant courses, the time taken to obtain the degree/diploma and the performance in a thesis (where provided for in the first cycle of studies) will be considered. Up to 20 points will be allocated for this criterion.
  • Candidate interview: Other specific qualifications, such as postgraduate qualifications and specific knowledge, knowledge of other languages, possession of specific certificates, as well as the overall image and personality of the candidate will be taken into account. Up to 30 points will be allocated for this criterion.
  • Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of their professional experience, with a maximum of 20 points available. This will be determined through an examination of the candidates' CVs and supporting documents, as well as a discussion with the evaluation committee.
  • The Published Research Project Award is presented to candidates who have published a research project. An additional bonus of up to a maximum of 10 points may be awarded to candidates at the discretion of the committee, provided they have a valid published research work.
