The Department of Financial and Management Engineering (FME) is part of the School of Business of the University of the Aegean and is based in the Greek island of Chios, in the Northern Aegean Sea. This engineering department was established in the academic year 2000-2001. Studies in the department take 5 years to achieve a Diploma in Financial and Management Engineering.
The department was originally conceived to fill a gap in the market. To achieve greater success, today’s engineers need a solid interdisciplinary background that includes science, engineering, mathematics and informatics, and also economics, business and management to equip them with the knowledge and skills required to meet the challenges of the modern business environment. Such an interdisciplinary background will allow them to participate in research and explore new technological knowledge in the fields of:
Conventional engineers are often faced with market demand for knowledge in these fields. This requires efforts to gain experience in these areas, which can be time consuming and difficult. The Department of FME is involved in training a new generation of specialist engineers and executives whose multi-faceted educational background will enable them to respond to all the technical, financial and administrative challenges that are emerging in the current turbulent business environment and in the area of innovation more generally.
