Panagiotis Vasilakis

Mr. Panagiotis V. Vassilakis is a graduate engineer and holds a Ph.D. in Machine Learning and Medical Decision Making (Technical University of Crete & Institute of Informatics of FORTH, 1994). From 1996 to 2000 he worked as a Project Management Executive at INTRAKOM Group and as a Consultant for the Design of Information Communication Systems. From 2000 to 2004, he was General Manager at the Regional System of South Aegean, as the person responsible for the development of Health Units in connection with the standardisation of health care procedures. From 2005 to 2010, he was the head of the Management Consultancy for the installation of information systems in the major hospitals of Attica on behalf of the Ministry of Health and the Information Society S.A. During the four years 2010-2013, he was the Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Medicines Agency, responsible for the digitalisation of the pharmaceutical licensing procedures and the electronic prescription.

Since 1999, he has been continuously involved as an expert of the European Commission for the evaluation of Digital Health programmes in the Framework Programmes for Research, HORIZON 2020 & NEW HORIZON (he has participated in about 90 evaluation and monitoring actions). Since 2005 he has been teaching at the University of the Aegean in both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and collaborates with the Business Administration & Decision Making Laboratory.  He is a partner in THESIS - Organisation & Management Consultants S.A. and is responsible for Intra-Market Transactions and Economics & Management Studies. Finally, since 2017 he has been an accredited Ombudsman of the Ministry of Justice.
